Is it worth investing in a Snapchat geofilter for your business?

Snapchat is used by 188 million people every day which generates over 3 billion snaps daily! If your business is targeting an audience of millennials, Snapchat is the place to be seen as 71% of users are under the age of 34.

Below is a list that looks at both the pros and cons of using geofilters for your business.

Easy to create

Business geofilters are easy and quick to make directly through the Snapchat website. With only a few simple steps to follow, you can create a filter that is suited to your business or event within a few minutes.

Can get expensive

Depending on your location, the size of your business or event and the dates you choose, using a geofilter for your business can get expensive as the larger the area and date/time range, the more money it costs to use your tag.

Another way to interact with consumers

We are always looking for more ways to interact with out customers and this is another great way to do so with your business or event.

No room for edits

Once you have sent off your filter and it has been approved, no edits can be made after this time. This could cause an issue, especially if details were to change last minute or any other sort of update needed to be made.

Add your own brand

Add your own logo, style, colours and personality to your filter to help it be more recognisable, stay on brand and be relatable. Your brand and style is very important to keep consistent to not confuse your current and future customers.

A date and time range needs to be selected

This can be both useful and frustrating, depending on what the filter is being used for. If you are promoting an event, it is great to be able to select the date/s and time range that you want the geofilter to be available for use. If you would like to have a filter available when people are in or around your business, this can start to become very costly the longer time duration you would like it.

Encourages UGC

A geofilter is a fantastic way to get consumers to use it, which means amazing UGC (user generated content) that you can use to showcase your customers using your own products and services.

Great for B2C Businesses

This is an amazing tool for B2C (business to consumer) businesses, not so much for B2B’s (business to business). Snapchat is a platform that is fantastic for reaching your customers to try and buy your products and services.
